Where is that lovely old thread "where are you from?"
by clarity inbig hello again to all.
there was an old thread, many pages long, where we could say where we lived in the world.. many just put the country but others told a bit about their hometowns.. i cannot seem to find it and just wondering if this still exists ....blondie maybe??.
now that there are so many of us, it might be pretty fantastic to know how many potential friends we have living in our areas.

Where Are You From?
by finallysomepride inalot of members don't have a flag or country name beside their user name, and well frequently one doesn't know where that particular person is from, tell us your country, state, county or what ever you feel like giving out.
if you are going to post please at least devulge your country.. me, i'm originally from taranaki, new zealand via auckland.
for the most of this decade i have been living & working in brisbane, queensland, australia.. .

Everything you wrote helps and is on the mark. I thought that mileage was considered low, given the truck's age. But, I'm sure you're correct. All my jobs are within a few miles of home, my monthly mileage being some 200 miles. So the gas issue isn't too horrible. I Googled my truck and its particulars and bad gas mileage is a complaint many owners wrote about. Repairs for an old vehicle can be pricey.
What you said is what I've already figured on -- drive it till it dies. I go nowhere to speak of, but traveling beyond the borders of my community might be nice!

Swimming pools are a lot of work and are often a detriment towards a property's sale, GrreatTeacher. Thanks, Blondie, for the description of your wonderful garden. Your "guests" must appreciate what you tell them. Below is a photo, circa 1950, of me in front of Nana's garden. She taught me gardening, a debt I could never repay.
Only recently did I learn how to transfer photos from my ancient Apple to my DELL (in use now). When Simon went to https, the Apple no longer allowed replies to JWD. You just have to know all the "back doors," I guess!

Looks good!
I have a '93 GMC compact pickup truck (lorry?) that's paid for, runs great, but "nothing" works: electric windows, heater, instrument panel, etc. Oh, the gas mileage is terrible, although it's a six cylinder.
Does having a vehicle that's low mileage -- 110,000 miles -- trump laying out the cash and buying a new vehicle?
Sure would love to lower the windows (AC works fine).

When I was almost seven, we moved from the gulf coast town of Mobile, Alabama to Morgan City, Louisiana. On Brashear Avenue, which was also Highway 90, the Gulf Coast Hwy, going towards the now old Atchafalaya Bridge, there was a shrimp boat in the middle of the road called The Spirit of Morgan City. At Christmas time they decorated it with a Santa on the front and his reindeer out front, as if it were Santa's mode of transportation through cajun country, rather than his regular sleigh.
This was one of the coolest landmarks of any small town I have lived in. This picture is not the best view of Spirit of Morgan City. What landmarks do you remember fondly from your hometown? Share pics if you can. I hope this pic will show up. If not, I will find a way to post it.
